In light of the expansion of excavations at Tel Miqné-‘Eqron and Ashqelon since the publication of Ashdod V and the initiation of new excavations at Tell es-Safi/Gath, the Ashdod material to be presented here—from the first Philistine city modernly excavated—has attained special significance.
