Was kann Lernen bedeuten? Verschiedene lerntheoretische Ansätze vertreten eine „relationale Sichtweise“. Die ontologischen Prämissen bleiben jedoch implizit. Dadurch überlassendiese Ansätze ihre Konzeptionalisierungen des Menschen und von Sozialität einem intuitiven Hintergrundsverständnis. Die naheliegende Konzeptionalisierung des Menschen als einer „offenen Persönlichkeit“ oder als „homines aperti“ (N. Elias) und von Sozialität als dem Lernenden inhärente Sozialität oder „primäre Sozialität“ (H. Joas) bekommt hierdurch unzureichenden „ontologischen Halt“.
